Being able to read your tire sizing code is a very useful skill to have. And once you've mastered it, you will be able to read any tire size out there. But if you have never had it explained to you it can be kind of difficult to figure it out.

To give an example of how it breaks out, if you have a size code of P205/55R16 then that translates to:

• P - Passenger vehicle tire type.
• 205 - Tire width. In this case, the tire would be 205 millimeters wide.
• 55 - Aspect ratio. This tire's height would be 55% of its total width.
• R - Radial construction.
• 16 - Wheel diameter. This tire would fit on a 16" wheel.
